Hands-On Art Instruction for Every Student
Art education is critical to child development. In addition to enhancing motor and language skills, it fosters creativity, problem solving, self-esteem, and improved academic performance.
Through the Foundation-sponsored ART CORPS program, all TK-5 students receive:
- High-quality art lessons led by trained ART CORPS parent volunteer teachers
- Art fundamentals, which include line, shape, texture, space, color, value, composition, and famous artists
- Art history, from Impressionism to Cubism, Pop Art, and more
- An end-of-the-year Art Show that showcases the work of every Terrapin
We are very grateful to the many parent and grandparent volunteers who help make this program a reality each year and to the principal and teachers who continue to support us with our concept-based lessons each month in their classrooms.
All lessons help fulfill the State standards. The program annually costs $20 per child per year, so if you would like to help deliver the ART CORPS program to Turtleback next year, please consider giving a contribution, participating in our art auction events, or coming to join our team of volunteers to teach art in the classroom.
