When it comes to supporting Turtleback Elementary School, your participation matters.  There are plenty of opportunities to get involved. If you don’t see a specific need listed here, please email us. The Foundation is also looking for volunteers to serve on the Board.

TBK Office Staff & Principal


Trekkers

Trekkers is our recess running program that promotes healthy living through exercise. Students will receive special prizes when they complete 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles.

To support this program for first through fifth grade students, we need parent volunteers during morning recess on Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11am.  Please email us to volunteer. All volunteers will need to have Megan’s Law clearance, a signed Volunteer Code of Conduct on file, and the required TB risk assessment completed.


Green Team Recycling Program Coordinator

Help lead a group of 10-15 students every Tuesday morning (7:30-8 a.m.) to collect and sort recyclables.


ART CORPS
Volunteer to teach art lessons in the classroom, or support an ART CORPS volunteer teacher.

  • You do NOT need be good at art.  All volunteers will receive hands-on training for each lesson.
  • Teach 8 lessons per year (requires only 4-6 hours per month)

This is a very rewarding, fun and creative way to be involved in your child’s education.


Harvest Festival and Silent Auction

This is one of the biggest events at Turtleback. The Harvest Festival is held in October and includes game booths, carnival games and different fun activities for the entire family. The Silent Auction features themed baskets and exciting auction items for everyone. We need your help in preparing, logistics or manning an activity, even for just an hour.


Valentine’s Dance Co-Chairs
Help and assist the coordinator and team to plan and prepare for the event. Responsibilities include organizing and overseeing:  invitation, food, bake sale, arts and crafts tables, DJ, ice cream floats, photography, décor, takeaway table, dance program, and more.


Yearbook Coordinator

Gather photos throughout the year and design Turtleback’s yearbook.  Work with publisher and oversee orders. Template and assistance to be provided from past editor.


Spell-a-thon Coordinator
This is an important academic fundraiser.  Be part of a group of parents compiling word lists,  liaising with teachers, correcting the papers, and securing/distributing prizes for students. The event happens in January.


APEX Fun Run

Help manage the largest annual fundraiser at Turtleback. We’re looking for support coordinating this event as well as participating on the day of.


Dad’s Group
We have tons of active fathers at Turtleback. Get to know them by organizing, running and participating in the Turtleback Dad’s Group.


Corporate Liaison
Help establish relationships between businesses and our Foundation through securing event sponsorships and gifts to Turtleback. Assist with the auction for the Harvest Festival and oversee program ad sales for the Variety Show (February/March).


Library Assistant

Help the librarian sort and refile.  Assist the students checking out and returning the books using our computer system.
