What a Year!

What a Year!

Turtleback Families:

What a year! Thanks to your generous support, the Foundation has raised more than $137,000 for Turtleback Elementary School. That money has made a huge difference for our kids, funding programs including ART CORPS, music, Trekkers, GATE, Math Olympiad, and Safety Patrol. It has also paid for the track resurfacing, P.E. equipment and a new shed, books for the Library, improvements to the South entrance, teacher supplies and grants, buddy benches, and so much more! We couldn’t have done it without you.

We also couldn’t have done it without the tireless efforts of our volunteers. So many people contributed so many hours to make sure Turtleback students received the educational and enrichment opportunities they needed. Among them: Genni Myles, Shelley Rahim, Florence Malmgren, Dana Grue, Darrius and Sunday Nowell, Tara Ott, Suzanne Litzenberg, Shawna Johnson, Lisa Sorce, Becca Ellithorpe, Gaby and Todd Gallegos, Maureen Black, Andrea Street, Jackie Groeteke, Jocelyn Staller, and Christina Rodocker. Our thanks goes out to these volunteers and so many more who gave up their days, evenings, and weekends to help.  In addition, thank you to all the room parents and art corps volunteers, you added so much to the day to day activities at the school, with more hands, we have accomplished so much for the students of Turtleback Elementary School.

As this school year comes to a close, we have a lot to look forward to, including a new Foundation leadership team. Please join me in congratulating these individuals who were voted into office at our meeting on Tuesday, June 6th:

  • President: Aliciana Ladd
  • Vice President, Volunteers: Tina Martin
  • Vice President, Marketing: Melody Corvalan
  • Vice President, Logistics: Paul Peaty
  • Treasurer: CJ Interino
  • Secretary: Andrea Schwartz

This team—combined with all the parent volunteers and Turtleback teachers and staff—have great things in store for the 2017-18 school year. If you’re interested in getting more involved, there are plenty of opportunities to do so. Email tbkfdn@gmail.com for more information.

Also, be sure to visit the new Foundation website, www.turtlebacker.org, over the summer for updates and mark your calendars for the Ice Cream Social on August 18.
